Other Fees

AFT allows certain percentages of some bond investments to be used as collateral for margin trading activities.
The collateral value of bond positions depends on the rating of the individual bonds, as shown below:

Rating Definition* Collateral Percentage
Highest Rating (AAA) 95%
Very High Quality (AA) 90%
High Quality (A) 80%

* According to AFT's internal ratings
Example: If a bond position is rated A, 80% of its market value can be used as collateral for margin products (e.g., Forex, CFDs, or Futures and Options) instead of cash.

AFT supports 2,400 offline bonds, so you are likely to be able to trade the bonds you want offline through our bond desk. Please contact AFT to check if a specific bond can be traded offline. If so, we will trade the bond manually, but it will still appear in your account summary as with any other position.

Bonds have different trading sizes, which can be as high as 50k, 100k, or 200k in the relevant currency. You can check the minimum trading size and increments for each bond on your account > trading conditions and trading layouts. However, some bonds have smaller trading sizes, but they can also be purchased (the minimum for all online bonds is EUR or USD 10,000).

If the underlying bond market is open, you can trade bonds online 24 hours a day, five days a week. Trading hours will be limited to daytime hours, when the underlying bond market has the best liquidity (i.e., European government bonds will be available during European trading hours).

Various highly active and liquid government and corporate bonds from Europe, the US, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, as well as a few from Latin America (totaling over 5,900 bonds), can be traded online.
